COME ON IN....IT'S OPEN

How was your day ?
Please give me your coat and umbrella.
Would you like a glass of Champagne ?
Yes ?
Please follow me to the simple and informal French way of dressing a table…

Would you like you Champagne served in a "coupe" or a "flute" ?

A -The service plate
B - The dinner knife (on the right) with the dessert knife (above the plate)
C - The fork and the dinner spoon
THE RESULT :
You can add a dessert and a fork spoon (above the plates), a salad plate and a napkin (always at the right side). Forget about paper one...

A - Sarregemines plates "La Fontaine fables"
B - Sarregemines plates "months of the year"
C - Sarregemines plates "brown"

A - Water goblet
B - Wine glass
C - Sherry glass

At the end of the meal, offer your guests a little fruit juice, they should (normally) understand that it is time to go home...

Au revoir...
Many, many thanks to Mathilde
For her precious help, her home and all the items which compose this lovely table.

    1. Thank you Claire. To be honest, formal is very heavy. You have to put absolutely everything on the table : all your glasses (5 or 6), all the cutlery (around 6 each side plus above), all the plates (6 as well), plus the cup of tea and bread plate. I do not do it myself but I know some...I will maybe do a post about it (with Mathilde's help), maybe not...Best, Sixte

  11. One needs a lot of time to prepare such a table (and of course one needs a proper hardware). Well done, Sixte. Charity

    1. Thank you very much Charity. You know, I have Zara Home hardware as well (look at my post about "poached eggs"), and I do like to mix a lot. In my point of view, it does not take so much time : I have a cupboard where everything is stored and I just have to pick the plates, glasses and cutlery up and arrange them. Just try it one day and let me know. All the best, Sixte
